Good Food Guide: Barley Dosa Recipe

My love affair with barley continues. Yesterday, I tried my hand at making dosa with unhulled barley and red poha (beaten rice). The dosa turned out super crisp with a subtle hint of nuttiness which gave it the perfect taste. I served these dosas for breakfast with dry chutney podi and a coconut chutney for a wholesome, healthy meal

Here's the recipe.

What you'll need

  • 1 cup unhulled barley
  • 1 cup idli rice
  • 0.5 cup red poha
  • 0.5 cup urad dal
  • 0.25 cup channa dal
  • 0.25 cup sabudana
  • 1 teaspoon methi seeds

How to make it

Wash and soak all the ingredients together for at least 6-7 hours. Grind to a coarse batter and keep covered for 6-7 hours. Once the batter has fermented well and risen, give it a good mix. The batter will be quite thick so add water to get the desired consistency. Season with salt and prepare dosas. Serve hot with sambar and chutney.
